For those of you who have had an Easter break with family and friends, I hope you will be feeling rested and relaxed today.
I started the weekend chilling out watching football with a couple of good mates, although 2 of us were really not happy with the score of 2-1 to Chelsea, leaving Manchester United second in the league now. Not a good start to my Easter weekend, especially as my Chelsea loving friend insists on reminding me constantly by text!
I decided to forget football and went for a wander around the Mall, pretty much knowing that I’d end up in the games shop 
Sure enough in the mood I was in; I was a prime target for impulse buying.
Although it’s been out since December 2009, I decided to invest in a copy of James Cameron’s Avatar. Not for any other reason than it seemed like a good idea at the time. Not the best of reasons for spending money!
Once I got it home even though it was not Assassin’s Creed II, I was pleasantly surprised with the rendering of the backgrounds and setting of the game. I’m always wary about games adapted from big budget movies, as they often seem like the poor relations released just to pull in as many extra bucks as possible.
But saying that, it seems that Ubisoft have used the two years that they had access to assets from Cameron’s top-secret property before its release. Along with the stunning beauty of the fictional planet Pandora, there is access to a kick-ass arsenal of hardware and limited-use power-ups such as cloaking camouflage, speed boosts and health replenishment.
An additional feature to the game plan is that early on in the story, the player is faced with a difficult moral decision that sees them either siding with the military RDA Corporation or the native Na’vi. I haven’t got too far into the game yet, but have gone far enough to unlock and assign new weapons and abilities. But I’m still developing my character and acquiring new skills.
I shall let you know how I’m getting on as I go, but would love to hear any opinions or hints that anyone may have about this game.
